Spanish Cuisine

Spanish Food

To me there is nothing like good French food. I love French onion soup and canard confit is one of my favorite foods. Unfortunately, on this trip we haven’t been choosing the right restaurants because the French food has not been good. After leaving France unsatisfied, we jetted to Barcelona for a few days, hoping for a better culinary experience. I am happy to say our prayers were answered.

The first night there, we venture from our apartment, in the El Born district, to an area called La Rambla, named after the the main road that passes through it. There ,we found a plethora of fine Spanish cuisine at very reasonable prices. We decided to eat at Kubik, after seeing their wonderful 2 tapas + paella deal for 11 euro. We really didn’t know what to expect after have had such lack lust experiences in Paris,  but luckily for us  the food was quite amazing. The 2 tapas were chosen for us at random, which I think just means what they have available at the moment, and we were able to choose our own style of paella, which included, traditional (with seafood), Meat (traditional with meat), vegetables, and vegetables with seafood. I decided on the meat paella (naturally because I’m a carnivore) and was just blown away at how good it was. Large chunks of chicken and beef plus shrimp and mussels  we generously scattered in the tomato cooked rice. As for our “surprise” tapas, we got this amazing cole slaw, which may very well be the best damn coleslaw of my life, these fried sweet potato sticks, some kind of sauced beef and a chickpea salad. Everything was delicious and full of Flavor (can’t say that much for the food we had in Paris and now in Italy for that matter). We washed down all of this delicious food with huge mugs of Sangria.

We liked Kubik so much that we ended up going there the next night  and tried different tapas (except for the coleslaw we had to do a repeat on that one). And of course Kubiks did not disappoint, offering us the same wonderful food and service we had come accustom to.

Other than Kubik  we really didn’t have the opportunity to eat many other things because our time was limited, but Krystin and I both intend on coming back to Barcelona, not only for the food but to experience it a bit more.
