Havana- Day 2

Not sure why it took me so long to get this up but better late than never. Day 2 of our Cuba trip was nothing short of amazing.

The day started off with a fabulous Cuban breakfast consisting of fresh tropical fruit, bread, salsa Cubano and coffee. After breakfast, we got dressed and hit the town. One of the things I pride myself on when traveling is to not try to be super structured with a huge chronological agenda. I like to pick out a few must-sees, if its a new place, and then spend the rest of the time being spontaneous.

The must-see I had on my list that day, was to go to the cigar factory.We decided to walk there to get a better sense of our surrounds and attempt to stumble upon some cool things you wouldn’t see if you were riding around in a car. Fortunately for us our decision wasn’t in vein. About a block after leaving our Airbnb, we stumbled upon an awesome vintage trinket yard. After losing my mind over all of the cute little vintage things and purchasing a keepsake, we headed back out on our quest for the cigar factory.

As we walked the streets lined with colorful 19th century buildings, I became intoxicated with all of the beauty. After about a 15 minute walk, we arrived at Cigar factory that, to our disappointment, had moved to a different location. Though we weren’t about to do the factory tour. The cigar shop next door was still there and we were able to get some primo Cuban cigars.

After cigar shopping, we were solicited into trying Cuba Chinese food. According to our waiter the food was to be very delicious and I’m here to tell you, that was a lie. In attempt to erase the memory (and taste) of that bad meal, we walked some more and ended up stumbling upon the classic car taxi guys. Moments later, I haggled our way into a 20 CUC driving tour of Havana. We ended our day with a hour long adventure around the city in a gold 1959 Oldsmobile.
