The past two weeks have been a true world wind. First I had to take an unfortunate trip to Barbados to pay my last respects to my favorite aunt and then last week, Robbie and I finally had our “big wedding”. The emotional roller coaster alone is enough to make someone crazy but we emerged unscathed.
It’s funny how big events like a funeral and a wedding will put your life into perspective. It really makes you want to hold the ones who support and love you closely. It also helps you reevaluate the people and activities that you may have thought we important.
I’ve been reading a lot lately and one of the books that has my attention at the moment is The Motivation Manifesto. This book talks about the things that we allow to hinder our pursuit to the life we want, how to overcome them and the things we must do to truly reach our full potential. These lessons could not have come at a more pivotal time in my life. Being newly Married and trying to build businesses are two events that come with their own challenges. Though I am all too happy to fully engage in them, I realized that I have had a lot of other distractions hindering my progress. As we go into this season of renewal and rebirth, I really want to become more disciplined and thus more successful in my endeavors.
I am definitely a work in progress but I love a challenge and I love to share my ups and downs so that people can be encouraged in their endeavors.
Speaking of encouragement, I’d like to encourage your attention to the “Real” reason you came to read this post, today’s outfit. With Spring weather popping up one day and frigid temps the next, its been quiet difficult to really bust out all of the Spring gear. I’ve been curating all of the spring trends I’d like to try but have been none too enthused about making them come to fruition, with fears of frost bite. One day last week, with an impending date night on my mind, I decided to grow a pair and make my spring outfit dreams a reality.
I have had this awesome fringe skirt for almost a year now and have only warn it once. I decided to style it with other pieces which brought me right back to into my New York uniform, interesting all black with and cool jacket/coat. To my delight, I didn’t freeze my tail off and also ran around with child-like glee for the way the fringe skirt moves and twirls when I walk.
The take away from this very disjointed post is :
- Do what makes your heart content, paying special attention to not let any distraction derail your progress. And…
- Sometimes you need to get out of your own way, and wear weather inappropriate outfits because sometimes they my look good and sometimes you may have a ball wearing them.
