It’s been a while since I’ve given any food recommendations and such here on the blog but just know that I am still the same foodie you know and love.
For the better part of this year I have been following the Ketogentic diet which limits my carbohydrate intake and thus all of the yummy food you find at restaurants. Because life is too short and I am too much of a foodie to go completely cold turkey, I have given myself cheat days and fall of the keto wagon from time to time so don’t be alarmed (or judge) by the list of carb filled restaurants I’m going to suggest.
As we all know, the food scene in NYC is unlike any other in the world and it was super hard to come up with a list of just 6 places that I think you should try this fall. Some on the list I have already been to and others have gotten such good rects that I can’t wait to try them. All the same, if you get a chance, go!
Pastis
For all of my fellow SATC fans, you know that this restaurant was a hot spot back them where Carrie was a frequent patron. Well, when I moved to NYC 5 years ago I was sad to discover that this gem had close down. Fast forward to this year and I was ecstatic to find out that Pastis was reopening. As soon as I got the chance I took one of my best girlfriends and we lived out my SATC fantasy by eating at Pastis.
At Pastis, you’ll find amazing French faire just as good or better than you would in Paris. Don’t believe me? Well, while dining there, we were seated next to Famous Chef Anne Burrell who was raving about the food. If that doesn’t give you motivation to check it out, I don’t know what will.
Clinton Hall
Every year around this time, Clinton Hall’s famous Donut grilled Cheese and tomato soup pops up all over my Instagram feed and reminds me that I need to give this place a visit. I finally did last week and it surpassed my expectations.
At this self describe “beer garden” you’ll find amazing burgers, extravagant desserts, huge classic games and, you guessed it, tons of beer.
Frevo
The hubs and I check out Fravo last week for our 4 year wedding anniversary and we are still raving about (clearly).
The one of the appeals to this restaurant is that it is somewhat of a hidden gem. You first walking in to, what looks like, an art gallery. After confirming you reservation with the hostess, she pulls back one of the paintings on the wall, to reveal a door that leads you to the dining area.
The restaurant space is small and intimate but man the 5 course meal was as exquisite and decedent as you would image. Though on the pricier side, this is a place you definitely try this fall.
Kahlo
This new modern Mexican cuisine restaurant is supposedly as esthetically pleasing as it is gastronomically so. With decor almost as beautiful as it’s name sake, Freda Kahlo, Kahlo is definitely a place I want to check out for both the food and a great Instagram back drop.
Intersect by Lexus
I discovered Intersect a little over a month ago while coming from a little shopping in Meatpacking and I was drawn in by its cool modern esthetic. I got the complete rundown from a very kind barista who came to my rescue when I stumbled in confused. Intersect by Lexus is a cultural programming destination and features a full service restaurant and cafe. The restaurant launches and new menu (and new chef ) every 4-6 months. The type of cuisine they are serving at the time depends on the current chef.
I love the whole concept of the space and restaurant and will definitely be there is fall to try the current chef, Tomás Kalika’s, menu.
Restoration Hardware
First off, Restoration Hardware is one of my favorite furniture/interior design stores. I’m always in there getting staging ideas for my clients and drooling over things for my own home, so it was only natural for me to find myself in their huge store in Meat Packing. As I entered the store, I was told that there was a restaurant on the 5th floor and maybe a week or so later went back to try it.
Not only is the food divine and fresh, the decor is every glam girls dream, chandeliers at every table included. Since my first time there, I have been back 4 times. Each time trying something different. They serve amazing adaptations of American cuisine and I am dying to see what they’s added to their fall menu.
