Parties. Shows. Swollen blistered feet. Swag bags. Street style photos. Just a few words that described my past weekend. Of course all of these words could only be associated with one thing, New York Fashion week. Yes people, it’s that time of year again, when the city of New York is filled with street photogs and long legged models on their way to their next show. I took my annual pilgrimage to Mecca New York this past Thursday, for a three day weekend that would leave me with a strong case of the Monday blues.
I arrived on the second official day of Fashion week and straight away had various engagements to attend, to which I wore this look. I had be coveting after this Cameo the label Cape Dress for quiet sometime now. It lied deep in the secret Pinterest page I have set up for all of my fashion week inspirations. I knew that one day, I would wear it, and rock the shit out of it and alas, I was right. This “dress” was quite short when I finally tried it on which was a big disappointment because I’m not a fan of super short looks but I was ready and willing to still rock the hell out of it, short or not. I got all the way to two doors down from my first event of NYFW, and decided quickly to run it to Strawberry and buy a skirt to wear under it. It wasn’t so much that I was self conscious, but hat I was just really uncomfortable. I know, I know take risks but chil’ I wasn’t down with risking my sanity with having to adjust, readjust and pull at a dress down that I thought was too short for my frame. Now maybe if I wore it in it’s natural state (sans belt), it may have worked out a little better but the pencil skirt ended up being and anchor for this look.
Skirt or no skirt I honestly think that this dress could be no more beautiful. I am definitely looking for to taking this baby with me to Paris, where I plan on styling it with some tights and some sort of short bootie.
I hope you all are enjoying all of the NYFW coverage going around the interwebs because I intend on blasting your feeds with just a little bit more (sorry not sorry) but trust me they are good ones. So I hope that you will check back later this week for that. Also I have a giveaway coming up that you’d probably not want to miss. ‘Til then mes amis (yea I’m try to practice my french for Paris So what?) Douce.
