As you know, it’s Fashion Week but you know this foodie’s mind can’t be totally focus on all things runway. I was able to sneak in a little brunch this weekend with my twin, Waverly, and I wanted to share a bit of the experience with you.
We went to Anella in Greenpoint Brooklyn before attempting to see Refinery 29’s 29 rooms. I can’t, in good conscious, give you a full review from for this restaurant because I only tasted one dish and a drink but I can say that the dish I had was really good. I had the Fried chicken biscuit that was topped with jalapeno jam and white gravy. The chicken was perfectly fried, crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The biscuit was also well made, soft and fluffy. I would have like to taste the jalapeno jam a bit more but the sandwich was still pretty good. I washed my chicken biscuit down with a beautiful purple cocktail, violet spritzer, that was just as delicious as it was pretty. Waverly, had a Croque Madame and a Bellini, both of which she loved.
Though we thoroughly enjoyed our meals, I have to mention that our service was not good. The waiter wasn’t very attentive and service was very slow. With that being said, I would like to go back to Anella because the dinner menu looks quite amazing but I hope that the next time will result with better service.
Final Grades:
Food: 9/10 Overall really good meal
Service: 4/10 The service really sucked
Ambiance/Decor: 6/10 The restaurant is pretty basic inside =, we were able to eat in the outdoor/garden area which was pretty cute but again nothing super special.
